ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. We are seeking a Technical Publications Editor/Writer Level 3 to join our growing team in support of the FAA's ASR-8/ASR-11 Terminal Surveillance Team (AJW-1433). This position is based at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK, where the team provides second-level engineering support for ASR-8 and ASR-11 RADAR hardware and software. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing a variety of technical materials including reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, and other related publications. You will receive assignments from a supervisor and will be involved in observing production and participating in developmental and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and details. Your responsibilities will include interviewing production and engineering personnel, reviewing technical documents, and studying sketches, drawings, and specifications to integrate and delineate technology and operating procedures. You will also be tasked with organizing material and completing writing assignments according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Additionally, you will maintain records and files of work and revisions, select appropriate illustrations, assist in the layout of material for publication, and arrange for duplication and distribution of materials. You may also specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures. The position requires proficiency in automated document and drawing products, including Microsoft Word and Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and configuration management applications. You will be expected to utilize advanced techniques such as styles, templates, and book features, and assist the Quality Assurance/Process Improvement staff with the development of guidance for quality improvement purposes. Your role will also involve supporting various documentation processes, including LEMs (Logging Equipment Modification), RMLS (Remote Monitoring & Logging System), and updating the DIS (Directives Information System) and FAA Orders and Notices website. You will provide training and assistance to new users and publishers, ensuring that all documentation is current and accurate. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required, and all applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years. The ideal candidate will have the ability to describe information in simple, clear language, be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in technical writing or editing, as well as working in a team environment, is highly desired.
