About the position

Iron Mountain is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Global Technology and Innovation Team. In this role, you will collaborate with Engineering, UX, QA, and Product Management to document product features and create instructional content that supports user adoption and learning. Your primary focus will be on the Iron Mountain CSP platforms, specifically Iron Mountain InSight and enVision, which are content management platforms that host customer content across more than 50 countries. These platforms utilize intelligent document processing to provide actionable business insights and predictive analytics through Machine Learning (ML)-based classification of both physical and digital information. This process adds structure, context, and metadata to information, enhancing its usability and enabling improved automated governance and workflows for our customers. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for producing a variety of technical documentation, including API reference manuals, user guides, implementation guides, and developer guides tailored for both external and internal audiences. You will also create release notes, FAQs, product manuals, and training videos, ensuring that complex technical information is communicated in an accessible manner for both technical and non-technical users. Your role will involve analyzing existing content for reuse opportunities, identifying gaps, and maintaining documentation on collaboration sites. Additionally, you will proofread and edit documents submitted by the team to ensure clarity and accuracy. Responsibilities

  • Write technical documentation such as API reference manuals, user guides, implementation guides, developer guides, and more for external and internal customer, user, developer and implementation audiences.
  • Write release notes and FAQs.
  • Create product manuals with screenshots, tutorials, and training videos.
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and user guides.
  • Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences.
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities, and identifying gaps.
  • Upload and maintain documentation on collaboration sites.
  • Proof-read and edit documents submitted by the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Media, Communications, English or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience creating content for an end user, implementation or developer audience.
  • Background in Machine Learning, AI and/or RPA technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of Cloud computing including Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and/or Azure.
  • Good working knowledge of GSuite, specifically Google documents and online help authoring tools such as Paligo; experience in Walk Me would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with Engineering, UX, QA and Product Management teams.
  • Demonstrable experience writing product implementation guides and user manuals, as well as experience with cutting-edge applications and tools.

  • Experience writing developer-facing documentation.
  • Experience writing external customer-facing documentation.
  • Knowledge of Walk Me, Paligo.
  • Experience documenting APIs in Python, Java, etc.
  • Knowledge of machine learning (ML), ML data preparation techniques, and/or machine learning models.
  • Knowledge of server-oriented architectures and web platform applications with the ability to interact with engineers with APIs and REST services topics.
  • Experience with agile tools such as Atlassian JIRA.
  • Knowledge of code repositories such as GitHub.
