About the position

SBG Technology Solutions, Inc. (SBG), a DSS, Inc. company, is seeking a Technical Writer to join our dynamic team. This position is remote and offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced government contractor environment. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional capable of producing a wide range of documentation, both technical and strategic, tailored for various audiences. The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in supporting our Cybersecurity products, processes, controls, and services by creating high-quality documentation that is both informative and visually appealing. In this role, the Technical Writer will collaborate closely with Cybersecurity personnel to provide documentation guidance and support. Responsibilities will include creating technical architecture documents, maintaining document templates for consistency, proofreading and editing content, and establishing document repositories. The candidate will gather information through interviews with subject matter experts and stakeholders, translating complex information into clear and concise documents. The position requires a strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others. The Technical Writer will be responsible for ensuring that all security document versions and releases are completed on time and meet high-quality standards. The role demands a solid understanding of documentation tools and technologies, as well as the ability to quickly learn new technologies. The candidate should also have experience in writing executive-level communications and editing technical documents for clarity and readability. A U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Technical Writing for all Cybersecurity products, processes, controls, and services for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support and collaborate with Cybersecurity personnel to provide technical writing, documentation guidance, and support.
  • Create high-quality technical architecture documents with visually creative and appealing images (e.g. schematics packages).
  • Create, publish, and maintain document templates to ensure content and aesthetic consistency.
  • Proofread and edit content with minimal supervision.
  • Establish and maintain document repositories/libraries.
  • Gather information, interview subject matter experts and stakeholders, and translate to appropriate documents.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in an applicable field plus one full academic year of graduate education in the specialized field; or a bachelor's degree in a specialized field plus 2 years of applicable experience; or a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of 3 years of specialized experience.
  • Skilled at proofreading and editing content with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled at establishing and maintaining document repositories/libraries.
  • Skilled at ensuring security document versions and releases are completed on time with a high level of quality.
  • Knowledge of procedures to govern, facilitate and document interview processes, workflows, and tools such as intake, prioritization, coordination, documentation, and reporting.
  • Skilled at developing, refining, and automating processes and procedures.
  • Exceptional documentation skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Technical Writing, Organization, Publishing, Editing skills.
  • Must have strong writing and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of documentation tools and technologies and display the ability to research and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently as well as collaborating effectively with subject matter experts and other stakeholders.
  • Experience writing executive-level communications and editing technical documents for executive consumption and readability.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Army and ASA(ALT)/PEO experience or knowledge is desired.
