About the position

As a Technical Writer at Coda Solutions, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation specifically tailored for cybersecurity weapons. This position requires you to create high-quality documentation that supports all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial design through to end-user support. You will be responsible for documenting software and systems engineering processes, system operations, testing protocols, and user guides, ensuring that all materials are clear, concise, and accessible to a diverse audience. Your responsibilities will include gathering and organizing technical information from various sources to produce detailed written content. You will maintain a current internal documentation library and utilize a variety of word processing and presentation tools, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with developers and engineers to produce documentation and training materials that meet specific project requirements. You will also coordinate the layout and design of documents, ensuring compliance with both company and industry standards. In addition to these tasks, you will research and interpret highly technical subject matter, including engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures. Your expertise will be essential in providing oversight and editorial review of all documentation phases, ensuring that all materials are accurate and complete. As a project leader for complex documentation projects, you will coordinate special documentation services as required and ensure that all documentation adheres to the technical manual standard NSA DS-89.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining operational documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
  • Gather and organize technical information from various sources to prepare detailed written text that is comprehensible to a wide audience.
  • Maintain a current internal documentation library and utilize multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to produce high-quality documentation and training materials that meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate the layout and design of documents and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Research and interpret highly technical subject matter, including engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures.
  • Provide expert oversight and editorial review of all documentation phases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Act as a project leader for projects with complex or voluminous documentation, coordinating special documentation services as required.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with the technical manual standard NSA DS-89.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university required. A Master's degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience, reducing the requirement to six (6) years. Four (4) years of additional technical writing experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, and training manuals preferred.
