About the position

Technical Writer Employment Type: Full-Time, Experienced Department: Technology Support CGS is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to provide consultative, analytical, and documentation support for a large Federal agency initiative. The Technical Writer will be responsible for drafting and developing technical documentation related to a variety of projects in the IT space. This role requires working closely with project stakeholders to establish technical processes and procedures, documenting projects through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and providing status reports for multiple ongoing projects and related documentation efforts. The Technical Writer will also assist with both user and admin level documentation, ensuring clarity and usability for all stakeholders involved. Candidates should possess excellent writing and communication skills, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of technical documentation and at least 3 years of experience in user documentation development. Familiarity with Agile project management methodology and the ability to produce quality work independently or in a group setting is essential. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Visio, is also required. Additionally, candidates must be willing and able to pass a background check/security screening.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • 5+ years experience with development of technical documentation.
  • 3+ years experience with development of user documentation.
  • Fluency with industry standard technical summary and reporting techniques including Agile project management methodology.
  • Ability to produce quality work independently or in a group setting.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Visio.
  • Willingness and ability to pass background check/security screening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence/Analysis applications.
  • Experience with Government software development policies and procedures.
  • Client facing communication experience.
