About the position

ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This position will support the Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS), which allows for the remote monitoring and maintenance of mission-critical equipment such as terminal radar stations. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our RMLS applications. In this role, the Technical Writer will work collaboratively with Developers, Product Owners, and Product Managers to interpret technical information into seamless products for applicable audiences. The candidate will be expected to work under agile methodology, obtaining an in-depth understanding of the application requirements by working closely with agile teams. Responsibilities include developing, writing, and editing standardized technical material for reports, manuals, instruction books, and related technical and administrative publications concerning work methods and procedures. The Technical Writer will provide documentation from concept and design to development and final review, creating documentation for a variety of work products, including technical reports, user guides, operations manuals, hardware descriptions, training material, and briefings. Additionally, the candidate may create videos to help end users understand application features and may also create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation and presentations. The role may require attending meetings, documentation reviews, working groups, and briefings to assist stakeholders in defining documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality documentation for RMLS applications.
  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and Product Managers to interpret technical information.
  • Work with agile teams to understand application requirements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and ten (10) years of related technical writing experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of eight (8) years of related work experience.
  • Ability to adapt to an agile environment.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support team goals.
  • Knowledge and experience in FAA documentation control, formats, conventions, and terms is a plus but not required.
  • Permanent Residency or US Citizenship is required for the FAA background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience in FAA documentation control, formats, conventions, and terms used for the production of System Support Directives, Handbooks, Notices, and other documentation.
