About the position

The L3 Application Infrastructure Technical Writer will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation related to application infrastructure components and systems. This position requires a blend of strong writing skills and technical expertise, as the writer will need to collaborate with various cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and ensure that the documentation is both accurate and comprehensive. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing a variety of documentation types, including user guides, installation guides, system administration guides, release notes, and troubleshooting guides. In this role, the Technical Writer will work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and support teams to gather information and gain a deep understanding of the application infrastructure components and systems. The ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation is essential, as the documentation must be accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. The writer will also be tasked with ensuring that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and adheres to established style and formatting guidelines. Additionally, the Technical Writer will review and edit existing documentation to enhance clarity, consistency, and readability. They will need to stay informed about upcoming changes and updates to the application infrastructure, incorporating these into the documentation as necessary. Continuous research into industry trends and best practices related to application infrastructure documentation will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that the documentation remains relevant and effective.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update technical documentation, including user guides, installation guides, system administration guides, release notes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and support teams to gather information and understand the application infrastructure components and systems.
  • Translate technical information into clear and concise documentation that is easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure that documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and follows established style and formatting guidelines.
  • Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, consistency, and readability.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand upcoming changes and updates to the application infrastructure and incorporate them into the documentation.
  • Research and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to application infrastructure documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, specifically in documenting application infrastructure components and systems.
  • Strong understanding of application infrastructure concepts, including servers, databases, middleware, networking, and security.
  • Proficient in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to meet documentation deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile or DevOps methodologies is a plus.
