About the position

The Technical Writer is responsible for developing content for new and existing products. This role requires working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The Technical Writer researches products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure, form documentation and help information.
  • Ensure proper review of content by relevant reviewers e.g. SME's, peers as needed.
  • Research, develop, and write content for multiple types of media, including documentation, video, AR procedures publications for documentation and supporting materials for technical procedures relating to the software and hardware of 3DS products.
  • Consider varying levels of users during the documentation planning phase.
  • Plan own daily activities and prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Manage translations requests and process and relationship with translation vendor.
  • Manage software support knowledge base working with relevant support agents and product management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • At least 3 years' experience in technical writing or content development role
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish and evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Solid knowledge of Help authoring tool e.g. RoboHelp, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D CAD application like SolidWorks, Microsoft 365
  • Ability to evaluate a situation, consider the 3D product and determine which type of customer support document or digital media is appropriate
  • Solid writing, communication, and computer skills
  • Solid electrical and mechanical knowledge is essential
  • Proactive and effective in eliciting information from subject matter experts
  • Self-starter, results-oriented team player willing to do whatever it takes to succeed
  • Strong organizational skills

  • KCS (Knowledge Centered Services) or Equivalent Knowledge Base Standard Certification Preferred
