About the position

ASRC Federal Professional Services is seeking a full-time Technical Writer in Warren, MI. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to provide technical writing for the development of installation and maintenance manuals for PM LAV. The Technical Writer is to provide expertise in the functional area of technical manual development, illustration, and book publishing for the purpose of developing installation manuals that document the tools, processes and procedures needed to install prototype components on vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and disseminate technical information pertaining to the project by meeting with engineers, reviewing prior manuals, and meeting with designers.
  • Clarify technical terms to ensure the warfighter in the field understands how the components shall be installed through reviews by the program and engineering team.
  • Complete rough drafts of manuals and send them to the team for review.
  • Send final drafts to the team for publishing and distribution.
  • Use written, photographic, and line drawing instructions to document various prototype technologies on ground vehicles.
  • Annotate photographic and line drawings to relate back to the body of the document.
  • Include vehicle preparation, removal of existing equipment, installation of hardware, cabling, brackets, document parts lists, required tools and procedures, and any notes, cautions, and warnings associated with the installation processes in the manual.
  • Ensure the manual contains installation, operation procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Send the illustrator marked up digital photos, line drawings, or CAD drawings, either hand delivered or electronically.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) & MS SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with Adobe PDF software suite.
  • Knowledge/proficiency with XML, HTML and IADS.
  • Proficiency with XML Software, ArborText and/or Dreamweaver.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and follow up skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a USG Secret clearance.
