About the position

The Automation Technician at Select Water Solutions will play a crucial role in supporting the Water Transfer service line, which is responsible for collecting and transporting water through various systems, including poly pipe, lay flat hose, and underground pipelines, to customer frac jobs. This position involves outdoor work in diverse weather conditions, requiring physical stamina and adaptability. The Automation Technician will be tasked with installing a variety of sensors and electrical equipment, ensuring that all automation equipment is functioning correctly, and maintaining effective communication with onsite customer representatives and coworkers. Strong teamwork and planning skills are essential, particularly in relation to current and future oil and gas operations. The role also necessitates proficiency in using computers for reporting and creating virtual automation sites, as well as the ability to communicate effectively using signals, radios, and telephones. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for operating hand and power tools, driving vehicles to transport equipment and personnel, and completing required training for safety and compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install a variety of sensors and electrical equipment in an outdoor environment.
  • Ensure automation equipment is in proper working order.
  • Interact professionally with onsite customer representatives.
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with coworkers regarding planning for oil and gas operations.
  • Use a computer proficiently to send reports and create virtual automation sites using software.
  • Communicate with other workers using signals, radios, and telephones.
  • Utilize common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Drive trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment and personnel.
  • Attend and successfully complete training as directed for DOT, OSHA, and safety.

Requirements

  • Preferred degree or certification in a related field.
  • 1 year of oil and gas/industrial experience (or related experience).
  • Some electrical or water transfer experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to grow and develop with the position as it evolves.
  • Highly motivated and focused.
  • Self-sufficient; self-starter.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle.
