Responsibilities

  • As a Spacecraft Technician, you will have hands on responsibility to build complex structural components typically using large jigs and tooling to conform to final assembly level requirements using hand tools, aerospace fasteners, power tools and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate deeply in all aspects of first mockup to first production.
  • Develop verifiable requirements, read/document/implement processes and influence final designs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3-5 years' experience (or equivalent) in aerospace, aircraft, R&D or related industrial or defense fields.
  • Must be willing to travel (approximately 10%) to other launch sites or customer facilities as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail, desire to solve problems, and drive to resolve technical issues.
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 lbs. and use lifting equipment and machinery for heavier hardware.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, prove ability to follow direction, and meet expectations.
  • Excellent shop mathematics, precision measuring skills and test instruments to complete work assignments including functional test assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders, scissor lifts, booms and or elevated workstations or in spaces of 10 feet or less such as under instrument panels and inside structures.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating, or inspecting aerospace mechanical components or fluids systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas).
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration
  • Experience installing strain gages with a variety of adhesive types, Aerospace fasteners, rivet guns, torque wrench, ducts, wire harnesses, insulation and tubing.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities
