About the position

The Telecommunications Project Manager will oversee a statewide communications network project, focusing on integrating and upgrading existing systems. This role involves developing executive summaries, compiling budget estimates, and drafting RFPs while ensuring compliance with state procurement processes. The Project Manager will coordinate with various stakeholders and provide technical guidance on network design and secure data transmission systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop a high-level executive summary outlining options for integrating and upgrading existing statewide communication systems.
• Compile budget estimates based on current and projected project costs.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, including state legislators and commission members, to gather requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Write and refine an RFP for hiring telecommunications system consultants.
• Ensure compliance with state procurement processes and best practices.
• Work closely with legal and procurement teams to finalize documentation.
• Assess current infrastructure, including existing MPLS, microware, and fiber networks, to identify integration opportunities.
• Provide high-level technical guidance on network design, IP-based solutions, and secure data transmission systems.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for commission meetings, including cost-benefit analyses and project updates.
• Serve as a liaison between the AFRWC and vendors, suppliers, and other state agencies.
• Present findings and recommendations to the commission during quarterly meetings.
• Support the executive director in building relationships with legislative and governmental stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in Project Management
• Strong background in telecommunications and public safety communication systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
