About the position

The University of Missouri - Kansas City is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the School of Science & Engineering, specifically within the Division of Biological and Biomedical Systems. This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible position that will last for one month, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. A. Smith, to design, set up, and conduct various experiments. The role involves significant responsibilities in cell culture, including routine passaging and preparation for specific experimental series using aseptic techniques. Additionally, the assistant will engage in biochemical techniques such as protein purification, Western blotting, RNA interference (RNAi), immunocytochemistry, and other biochemistry tasks that are integral to the research program. The position also entails data collection and organization, ensuring proper data storage, and performing straightforward statistical analyses on the data gathered from various experiments. The assistant will be responsible for presenting data in formats suitable for posters and manuscripts, contributing to the dissemination of research findings. Routine laboratory work will include the preparation of solutions, cleaning glassware, and preparing waste samples for disposal. Furthermore, the assistant will manage the ordering of supplies and reagents necessary for ongoing research activities.
