About the position

The Department of Biology and Biomedical Engineering (BBE) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Biomedical Engineering, set to commence in August 2025. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, preferably biomedical, by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, utilizing evidence-based approaches to instruct both introductory biomedical engineering courses and upper-level electives in their area of expertise. Experience or enthusiasm for teaching in the capstone design sequence is highly valued, and while all biomedical engineering-related fields are encouraged to apply, specialization in biomechanics or data mining and data science is preferred. The biomedical engineering program at Rose-Hulman is recognized as one of the top undergraduate-centered programs in the nation. The department is dedicated to innovative pedagogy and curriculum design, aiming to equip undergraduate and Master's-level students with practical skills essential for success in research and industry careers. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on, contextual learning, featuring multiple design experiences culminating in an extended, iterative capstone project. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of 15 faculty members responsible for delivering undergraduate programs in Biology and Biomedical Engineering. Key responsibilities include teaching and advising students, engaging in continued professional development, and contributing service to the department, institute, and professional community.
