About the position

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track within the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine. This role focuses on teaching, clinical responsibilities, and research in the field of geriatric medicine, aiming to enhance educational programs and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Teach residents, fellows, and medical students in various educational programs.
  • Provide outpatient care in the ambulatory practice and/or inpatient care at Penn Presbyterian Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit.
  • Engage in research and scholarship, including grant submissions and writing research papers in geriatrics.
  • Build a research program focused on high relevance areas in geriatric medicine, such as health services research and clinical interventions.
  • Obtain independent extramural funding and publish high-impact research.
  • Collaborate with divisional needs to integrate clinical and educational responsibilities.

Requirements

  • M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Board certified or eligible in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Demonstrated potential for obtaining NIH, NSF, or not-for-profit funding.
  • Strong national/international reputation in geriatrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching at the UME, GME, or post-graduate level.
  • Research experience in neurodegenerative diseases, sleep, population health, surgical care, or oncology.
