About the position

The Test Proctor position at Rogue Community College is a full-time classified role within the Academic Success department. The primary responsibility of this position is to administer and proctor both paper and computer-based exams for RCC and non-RCC students, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the RCC Test Proctors Manual. This includes proctoring placement exams and other external agency exams according to their specific guidelines. The Test Proctor is responsible for the intake and secure handling of all exams and proctoring instructions, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of exams and testing data throughout the testing process. Clear and effective communication with instructors and students is essential, as is maintaining a calm, clean, orderly, and distraction-free testing environment. In addition to testing duties, the Test Proctor will perform various administrative tasks within the Testing Center. This includes maintaining safe and accessible offices and testing rooms, organizing and archiving physical exam files, and managing exam counts. The role also involves providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, both in-person and virtually. The Test Proctor may participate in college committees and engage in professional growth opportunities as assigned, contributing to a culture of respect and inclusivity within the college community. The position requires a commitment to the college's core values of integrity, collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as sustainability and courage. The Test Proctor will actively contribute to the recruitment and retention of students, promoting student success through effective service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and proctor both paper and computer-based exams for RCC and non-RCC students according to the RCC Test Proctors Manual.
  • Proctor placement and other outer-agency exams according to agency guidelines.
  • Intake and secure all exams and proctoring instructions, maintaining confidentiality and integrity of exams and testing data.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with instructors and students.
  • Perform clerical duties in the Testing Center, maintaining a calm, clean, orderly, and distraction-free testing environment.
  • Maintain safe and accessible offices and testing rooms.
  • Organize and archive physical exam files and maintain exam counts spreadsheet.
  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment in-person and virtually.
  • Participate in college committees as assigned and engage in professional growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree is required.
  • A minimum of one year and three months of clerical experience requiring attention to detail, dealing with the public, using computers, and monitoring tests is required.
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping and statistical report preparation, general office procedures, and testing procedures is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
