About the position
The Tool Designer - Programmer at BlackHawk Industrial is responsible for creating technical drawings of custom cutting tools and holders based on customer specifications. This role involves collaboration with customers and the sales team to ensure accurate tool designs, as well as programming and setting up CNC equipment for manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Design custom Indexable, Solid Carbide, Carbide tipped and High-Speed Steel Cutting Tools using SolidWorks, Walter Tool Studio, or ANCA 3D Simulator.
- Communicate with customers and sales team to achieve proper tool designs.
- Make engineering changes to existing designs.
- Create detailed drawings for manufacturing.
- Interpret engineering drawings and develop CNC programs using MasterCam software or manual programming.
- Determine tooling/gaging requirements for efficient part manufacturing.
- Develop work instructions and/or setup instructions for manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot and edit programs as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Up to 2 years of experience in a similar position required.
- Knowledge of material and tooling types.
- Knowledge of the machine and its capabilities.
- Knowledge of tool usage and application.
- CNC Programming (required).
- CNC Machining or CNC Cutter Grinding (required).
- Competent with applying math skills/tool geometry.
Nice-to-haves
- CAD Programming (preferred)
- CAM Programming (preferred)
- CNC certificate preferred.
