About The Position

The Tool Maker position at Bosch Charleston involves machining various components to precise specifications using both conventional and CNC machines. The role requires selecting appropriate machines and tooling based on job requirements, creating CNC programs, and ensuring quality through knowledge of inspection methods and geometric dimensioning.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of tool-making apprenticeship or 5+ years of toolmaking machining experience required.
  • Journeyman status highly desired.
  • Minimum four years of experience in precision machining, including turning, milling, ID, OD, and surface grinding.
  • Experience with Wire EDM and conventional EDM is a plus.
  • Experience writing CNC programs is required.
  • Expertise in various measurement tools, including ID, OD, and depth micrometers, height gauge, and manual CMM.
  • Working knowledge of materials, including tool steels, aluminum, and stainless steels.
  • Experience in material heat treating, including tempering.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to create clear technical instructions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to function in a noisy and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates self-initiative, mechanical proficiency, leadership ability, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts for training, coaching, projects, and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Machine various components to print specifications using conventional and/or CNC machines.
  • Select the correct machine based on operations, precision, and complexity.
  • Choose appropriate tooling and work holding based on job requirements.
  • Create CNC programs using CAD/CAM and/or conversational programming and/or on-machine G code programming.
  • Source/select correct materials based on job requirements.
  • Utilize GD&T and inspection methods using toolroom gauges.
