About the position

The Trade Compliance Classification Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with trade and transportation regulations at Philips. This position focuses on optimizing global goods flow by analyzing and supporting compliance with US and international regulations related to the transport of dangerous goods, imports, exports, and supply chain security. The specialist will be responsible for creating and enforcing safety rules and procedures, managing compliance tasks, and providing data and reports on compliance performance.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, updating, adhering to and enforcing safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Focusing on compliance for Imports, Exports, Dangerous Goods, and Supply Chain Security, including day-to-day tasks for specific shipments/workflows.
  • Strategic planning to improve processes, programs, and systems for enhanced compliance and business efficiency.
  • Providing data and reports regarding the performance of compliance functions within the business unit.
  • Reviewing inbound and outbound shipping to ensure import/export compliance, including export licenses, duty drawback, FDA clearance, harmonized tariff codes, and FCC regulations.
  • Implementing and maintaining local internal control procedures in the quality management system on export control and ensuring compliance with Export Control Laws and Regulations.
  • Occasionally hosting individual/classroom training sessions on compliance issues.
  • Managing day-to-day projects of varying scope as directed by the manager/lead.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience facilitating the import/export of products with US customs and other government agencies.
  • 5+ years of direct USHTS classification experience with medical devices (preferred) and general use products.
  • High School Diploma (required), or an Associates/Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Customhouse Broker (CHB) License (aka Licensed Customs Broker [LCB]), preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of AD/CVD, PGA's and USHTS use & application.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player.
