TRAIN CONDUCTOR - CINCINNATI, OH

About the position

As a Train Conductor at Norfolk Southern, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of freight trains. This role involves a variety of tasks including coupling railcars, delivering railcars to customers, and transporting trains over long distances. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as conductors must be available on short notice and work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety to ensure the safe transport of freight.
• Safely connect and disconnect railcars to assemble and disassemble trains as per the designated configuration.
• Deliver railcars to local customers, ensuring safe, timely, and precise service.
• Safely transport trains over long distances.
• Maintain clear communication with other crew members, dispatchers, and relevant personnel to coordinate activities and respond to instructions.
• Adhere to a non-traditional work schedule with availability on short notice.

Requirements

• Must successfully complete a comprehensive 4-7 month training program including classroom and on-the-job training.
• Must qualify for a Conductors License after training.
• Reliable transportation is necessary to report to work within a 90-minute to 2-hour notice.
