About the position

The Training Specialist at GEO Group is responsible for coordinating and conducting evidence-based rehabilitation program training for staff across various GEO facilities, including US Corrections and Detention facilities, Residential Reentry Centers, and Day Reporting Centers. This role involves implementing core curriculum training, maintaining training records, and developing new training materials to ensure effective delivery of rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct evidence-based rehabilitation program training for GEO staff.
  • Implement and administer core curriculum training for new and existing employees.
  • Maintain a database for all training information and records, including training logs and tracking systems.
  • Provide training participants with appropriate certificates upon completion.
  • Arrange meeting space, equipment, and materials for training sessions.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for US Corrections and GEO Care divisions.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding training effectiveness.
  • Assist with the development of new courses and curriculum as requested by management.
  • Train internal trainers to ensure quality and consistent delivery of training modules.
  • Assist with the design and development of new training curricula, including presentations, videos, and quizzes.
  • Evaluate training materials in response to manager requests and audit reviews.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Education, or related field required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Education, or related field preferred.
  • One year of previous training experience including course development and project management.
  • Two years of evidence-based program experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in the criminal justice community corrections setting.
  • Basic knowledge of learning management systems and e-learning course development.
  • Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and analytical abilities.
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to provide leadership in training situations.
  • Initiative, flexibility, and change management skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning processes and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing training materials and curricula.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in rehabilitation.
