About the position

The Training and Support Coordinator for Montessori will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience by providing training and support to teachers and school leaders in implementing the Montessori core curriculum. This position focuses on aligning instructional practices with the vision of excellent instruction and the school's Tactile Improvement Plan (TIP). The coordinator will design and deliver professional development across the district, support Montessori educators in analyzing student data, and provide instructional coaching in Montessori classrooms from PreK to 8th grade.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and training to school administrators, teachers, and support staff on developing and implementing Montessori curriculum and guidelines.
  • Align Montessori PreK - 8 curricula with Michigan state standards through coaching and training.
  • Support school-based staff in executing a high-fidelity Montessori education program across grade bands.
  • Conduct observations, model lessons, and provide targeted coaching for student and teacher success.
  • Maintain accurate records of professional development and school support logs.
  • Communicate consistently and professionally with school administrators regarding support.
  • Ensure compliance with Michigan childcare licensing regulations for PreK environments.
  • Draft communications related to Montessori professional development and curriculum initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Montessori teacher certification partners to support adult learners in the certification process.
  • Review and analyze assessment data to develop targeted coaching plans for success across grade bands.
  • Develop and execute high-quality professional development aligned with the District's Vision for Excellent Instruction.
  • Coordinate with professional development partners to enhance workshops provided by District vendors.
  • Support culturally responsive instructional practices and anti-bias/anti-racist principles.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education or relevant field.
  • Montessori certification, with elementary certification preferred.
  • Michigan Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain one.
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching or leading a Montessori learning environment.
  • Experience with Principles of Adult Learning and applying them to professional development.
  • Experience providing curriculum support using the Montessori Method.
  • Experience supporting parents in Montessori learning environments.
  • Experience assisting school leaders and teachers in developing high-quality Montessori education programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan State Common Core Standards.
  • Ability to work professionally with all educational partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management within an educational setting.
  • Fluency with digital tools including Microsoft Office and Point.
