About the position

The Intern, Transformation & Value Creation accelerates Atlas Air's private equity-backed business transformation by scoping new opportunities to improve operational and financial performance, driving existing transformation efforts, and adding rigor to enterprise project management practices. This role aligns diverse stakeholder groups with different perspectives and priorities around a single plan to achieve organizational objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in pursuing a career in private equity operations, general management, or a similar field involving high-impact, performance-driven business transformation. While aviation experience is not a strict prerequisite, we are seeking someone who is interested in working for an asset-heavy logistics operation, where operational excellence and scale are critical drivers of success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal consultant to lead delivery of a value creation initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within a single vertical: flight operations, technical operations, ground operations, or commercial
  • Analyze operational and financial data to develop and investigate hypotheses about performance drivers, especially for complex decisions involving multiple teams with downline impacts
  • Translate pain points, anecdotes, observations, current state processes, and KPIs into a well-structured plan to capture quantified financial value
  • Align stakeholders across operations, commercial, finance, IT, and HR around a single plan with a clear set of actions, sufficient resourcing, and funding
  • Guide project execution through PMO framework, ensuring we progress according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards, including flagging dependencies and mitigating risks
  • Facilitate change management activities associated with project implementations, ensuring smooth transitions and stakeholder adoption of new processes or technologies
  • Report and present quantitative and qualitative results to operational leaders, Atlas executives, and investors through monthly Transformation Steering Committee

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student - particularly in business, operations management, operations research, economics, industrial engineering, or related majors
  • Current student at a top-tier MBA program preferred
  • Previous full-time or internship experience in management consulting or strategy preferred
