About the position

The Transmission Line Project Manager at HDR is responsible for overseeing the management and execution of transmission line projects throughout their entire lifecycle. This role involves leading project teams, ensuring quality control, managing budgets and schedules, and engaging in client management and business development activities. The position requires a commitment to fostering a high-performing team and delivering world-class services to clients in the Michigan region.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and leading transmission projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
  • Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR's Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.
  • Overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, and construction management.
  • Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver services to clients.
  • Performing client management, project management, staff mentorship, and technical support activities.
  • Supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 7 years of related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Ability to interact with various design teams
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Commitment to being an active participant in the employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and client relationships in Michigan
  • Previous experience managing and supervising staff
  • Distribution line design experience
  • PE license with the ability to obtain a Michigan PE within 6 months
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months
  • Experience using project management tools, such as MSProject
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
