About the position

As a Transportation Coordinator at Core-Mark, you will play a crucial role in the food supply chain, ensuring that our delivery drivers are equipped with the necessary information to deliver products on time and safely. This position is vital for maintaining the efficiency of our transportation operations, which directly impacts our customers and the overall success of our business. You will be responsible for tracking, calculating, and coordinating various driver and route information while performing essential administrative tasks. Your role will involve professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure that all inquiries are addressed accurately and promptly. In this position, you will also serve as a backup dispatcher, coordinating driver assignments and schedules as needed. You will oversee the loading process, ensuring that proper loading techniques and safety protocols are adhered to. Conducting temperature control validation and verifying seal integrity for outbound shipments will be part of your responsibilities, along with performing lock and security audits on trailers and equipment. You will review and process paperwork for drivers, provide support regarding routes and schedules, and conduct safety audits and inspections of equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Your role will also involve identifying and addressing potential safety hazards or concerns, helping to coordinate the activities of the Transportation night shift team, and providing training and coaching to team members as necessary. Fostering a positive and productive work environment will be essential to your success in this role, as you will be a key member of the transportation team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a backup dispatcher, coordinating driver assignments and schedules as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6-12 months in a transportation environment
  • Administrative support performing basic math and computer data entry skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation regulations
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Willingness to learn and develop a strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • 1+ years in transportation environment and interfacing with customers within foodservice industry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to make sound decisions under pressure.
