About the position

The Transportation Operations Technician II is responsible for various highway maintenance tasks, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees and brush, patching roads, and litter collection. In winter, the role involves assisting with snow plowing and salting, with potential overtime required. The position may also include vehicle and equipment maintenance duties. Responsibilities

• Repair guardrails and maintain highway infrastructure.
• Cut trees and brush as needed for road safety.
• Patch roads to ensure safe driving conditions.
• Pick up litter and maintain cleanliness along highways.
• Perform ditching and drainage maintenance.
• Assist with snow plowing and salting during winter months.
• Participate in vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• One year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor, including either one season of operating a snowplow or six months of operating medium or heavy equipment.
• Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
• Must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
• Completion of VTTC required coursework within one year or enrollment in the program.
