The primary purpose of the Transportation Supervisor at Epic Enterprises, Inc. is to oversee the administration of daily outbound shipments to customers and other distribution centers within the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and secure working environment while operating in a profitable manner. The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the EPIC fleet, which includes proper maintenance, scheduling, and dispatching of vehicles and drivers. Compliance with all state departments of transportation (DOT) and company regulations is paramount in this position. In addition to overseeing the daily work and safety of transportation associates, the Transportation Supervisor will ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, Food Safety Standards, and preferred work methods. This includes monitoring compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies such as DOT and OSHA, and ensuring that electronic logs are kept current and accurate. The role also involves preparing work schedules, managing the EZ pass account, and coordinating necessary repairs with the appropriate departments. The Transportation Supervisor will participate in the Fleet Capital Planning process and be responsible for fleet DOT compliance and registrations. They will manage EPIC's fuel management, including purchasing fuel and maintaining the fuel key system, while also finding viable freight lanes to keep trucks running efficiently. Conducting driver assessments, managing the transportation budget, and processing weekly/monthly DOT mileage reports are also key responsibilities. The supervisor will review delivery functions and productivity reporting, suggesting efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures as needed. Furthermore, the Transportation Supervisor will interpret, train, and enforce company policies and protocols, work with Human Resources to maintain driver qualification files, and communicate with the warehouse team to resolve customer or delivery issues. They will collaborate with the safety manager to conduct training, safety inspections, and accident investigations, and will be involved in staff management functions such as selection, development, and performance reviews. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
