The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and training drivers at the Operating Company (OpCo) to ensure that deliveries are made in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. This role involves monitoring Department of Transportation (DOT) logs and ensuring compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations. The Transportation Supervisor will coordinate the tracking of all relevant information on drivers and function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company. The position emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment, promoting a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. In this role, the supervisor will manage various responsibilities including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution for associates. They will assist in scheduling and ensure that deliveries and pickups are made on time. The supervisor will also ride with drivers for training and evaluation purposes, providing hands-on support and guidance. Additionally, they will assist the Transportation/Operations Manager with the day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may involve calculating driver payroll, reviewing trip logs and expense reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Transportation Supervisor will monitor vehicle safety and ensure that drivers fulfill their duties safely by overseeing the proper use of equipment and safe lifting practices. They will also coordinate the tracking of driver-related information such as license status, traffic tickets, and accidents. Accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork is essential, including invoices, cash receipts, and DOT logs. The supervisor will ensure the maintenance of all trucks, tractors, and trailers through detailed reviews of post-trip inspections and will work with the Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and ensure efficient routing of deliveries. Other related duties may include covering routes when needed.
