About the position

As a Proficiency / Floater Underwriter working for Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for the thorough review of in-house loans and pre-submission reviews of externally underwritten loans, ensuring that all loans are underwritten according to agency and investor guidelines. This role promotes excellent customer service and involves collaboration with Management, Loan Consultants, Client Coordinators, and Closers. You will assume all responsibility for loan files submitted for second-level review, acting as a test case review for new and upskilling experienced Underwriters. This ensures adherence to policies and procedures, and that the quality of underwriting is sufficient to sell all loans on the Secondary Market. In addition to your primary responsibilities, as a Proficiency / Floater Underwriter, you will provide coverage for team members who are on PTO, wellness time, or short-term absence, and assist with overflow during high volume initial submissions. You may potentially underwrite loan files that will be reassigned to a Production Underwriter for clearing conditions and final approval. You will manage the co-worker's pipeline, which may include reviewing loans that have been resubmitted and preparing them for final approval. A comprehensive knowledge of underwriting and qualifying guidelines for all FNMA & FHLMC, Non-Agency, FHA, VA & USDA loans is expected. You will be responsible for providing quality and consistent underwriting of mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with appropriate company standards, and assessing the potential risk of loan applicants by reviewing their credit and job history. High-quality customer service is essential, including timely review underwriting in a competitive timeframe. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
