The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) is seeking an Underwriter for its Reinsurance team, which operates within the Finance and Risk Department (MIGFR). MIGA's mission is to promote foreign direct investment into developing countries, aiming to alleviate extreme poverty and enhance shared prosperity. The Reinsurance team plays a crucial role in maintaining MIGA's financial integrity by managing exposures that exceed desired net retention levels and optimizing the use of MIGA's capital. This position is based in Washington, D.C., and reports to the Head of Reinsurance. The Underwriter will be responsible for communicating with MIGA's reinsurance counterparties regarding waivers, consents, amendments, extensions, or increases to existing projects in MIGA's portfolio. This includes reporting any losses or potential losses on these projects. Additionally, the Underwriter will syndicate facultative reinsurance participation on new Contracts of Guarantee that MIGA underwrites. The role requires a deep understanding of the credit and political risks associated with MIGA's projects, as well as the ability to articulate these risks clearly to reinsurance partners. The Underwriter will also be tasked with optimizing technology solutions to enhance communication and syndication processes. This includes conducting thorough analyses of the reinsurance market to identify trends and potential new reinsurers, as well as maintaining effective relationships with existing reinsurers. The position involves collaboration with MIGA's IT department to design and implement technological solutions that improve business process efficiencies. The Underwriter will participate in relevant operating committees and support the prioritization of syndication workflows in coordination with senior team members.
