About the position

Acrisure is seeking a skilled Underwriter to join our team, focusing on the transportation industry. In this role, you will be responsible for determining insurability, rates, prices, quotes, and recommending coverage for risks specific to the markets represented by GTU. You will work closely with producers and insurance company underwriters to evaluate applicants' risks, select appropriate coverages, and determine pricing that ensures overall book profitability and sustainability. Your leadership will guide Policy Service personnel in adhering to all state insurance and insurance company guidelines, while you follow the underwriting and compliance guidelines set forth by GTU, insurance companies, and states. As an Underwriter, you will review applications for coverage, including MVRs, financial statements, loss runs, equipment, FMCSA data, safety programs, contracts/agreements, and reports from loss control consultants. You will compare applications and supporting documentation with insurance company models and underwriting guidelines to assess whether an applicant is an acceptable risk. Your analytical skills will be crucial as you evaluate loss potential due to claims severity and frequency, decline risks that cannot be equitably priced, and develop pricing for acceptable risks within your authority limits. You will utilize your knowledge of agency management systems and insurance company rating models to quote new and renewal policies, ensuring you fully leverage GTU markets. Your role will also involve preparing quotes, answering questions for producers, and maintaining accurate and consistent files and data within the agency management and information systems. You will assist in preparing for and responding to GTU and insurance company audits, while developing and maintaining effective working relationships with producers, insurance companies, GTU staff, and management. Providing timely and professional customer service to producers is essential, as is keeping management informed on the status of day-to-day operations and other assigned projects. Additionally, you will mentor Underwriting Assistants and Associate Underwriters, demonstrating your knowledge of and support for GTU's mission, vision, values, standards, policies, and procedures.
