About the position

As an Underwriter at Gallagher, you will play a crucial role in the risk management process by underwriting individual insurance applications that cover property and casualty. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate insurance applications based on established guidelines for issuing policies, whether on a standard or substandard basis. This involves a thorough assessment of various factors, including the property's value, location, usage, safety features, and any other pertinent information that influences the decision to accept, modify, or decline a risk. You will frequently interact with field representatives to gather necessary information that supports and justifies your underwriting decisions. This role does not come with assigned production goals, allowing you to focus on the quality of your assessments rather than quantity. Additionally, you may provide support to a Senior Underwriter in managing and servicing accounts, contributing to the overall success of the underwriting team. At Gallagher, we value diverse perspectives and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if they feel they may not meet every requirement. We believe that your unique experiences and skills can contribute to our mission of safeguarding businesses and empowering their ambitions in the dynamic world of risk management.
