About the position

As an important member of the E&O/Liquor Legal department at Utica National Insurance Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Underwriting team while also engaging in various projects that will enhance your underwriting knowledge and skills. This position involves making decisions within a limited underwriting authority, which is essential for the effective management of quotes, new policies, and renewals. You will be responsible for completing preparatory underwriting tasks in accordance with the corporate workflow, ensuring that all processes are followed meticulously. In this role, you will process amendment requests within your authority levels, maintaining compliance with corporate policies and procedures. You will serve as the primary point of contact for agency Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), facilitating communication related to the follow-up and maintenance of underwriting file information. Additionally, you will underwrite small renewal policies and new business policies, ensuring that all underwriting activities are conducted within the established authority levels. This position may also involve performing other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the underwriting department. To succeed in this role, you will need to be self-motivated, organized, and possess strong logical and analytical skills. Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Underwriting team while working on projects to grow underwriting knowledge.
  • Complete preparatory underwriting tasks for quotes, new policies, and renewal policies in accordance with corporate workflow.
  • Process amendment requests within authority levels according to corporate workflow.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for agency CSRs regarding follow-up and maintenance of underwriting file information.
  • Underwrite small renewal policies within authority levels.
  • Underwrite small quotes and new business policies within authority levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and conform with all corporate policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of P&C Insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Strong logical and analytical skills.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
