Sompo International is seeking an Underwriting Technician to join our Commercial Specialty Property team. This role is pivotal in supporting our underwriting process for commercial accounts, particularly focusing on midsize to large domestic and U.S. domiciled multinational companies. The Underwriting Technician will assist underwriters in reviewing submissions, rating accounts, drafting quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements. This position is based in one of our offices located in Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Alpharetta, GA, or San Francisco, CA. In this role, you will perform underwriting analysis, complete risk reports, and prepare all policies in accordance with final binders, ensuring thorough review by underwriting staff. You will also be responsible for coding, billing, registering, processing, and distributing insurance invoices, binders, policies, and endorsements within the processing standards established by leadership. Additionally, you will provide support for file audits by maintaining files and conducting file reviews, as well as quality assurance and quality control as needed. Timely communication is essential, as you will be expected to return calls and emails promptly, within 24 hours of receipt. You will also provide backup support to other Underwriting Technicians and perform special projects as assigned. To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 3 years of underwriting support experience and the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas. Technical capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite, NitroPro, and ImageRight are essential. You should also exhibit the ability to learn and understand industry-specific terminology and coverages, identify problems, provide solutions, and multi-task while demonstrating attention to detail. This position offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $95,000, with actual compensation depending on various factors including location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
