The Unit Clerk at Lakeshore Meadows plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation nursing station, serving as a communication hub for families, nurses, and allied health professionals. This full-time position requires the individual to manage communications effectively through various channels such as phone, email, and fax. The Unit Clerk is responsible for assisting patients and their families in scheduling follow-up outpatient appointments and arranging transportation to and from these appointments. Maintaining an organized and tidy nursing station is also a key responsibility, ensuring that the environment is conducive to patient care and staff efficiency. In addition to communication duties, the Unit Clerk is tasked with several administrative responsibilities. This includes answering telephone calls, relaying messages, and documenting information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The role requires maintaining a schedule of patient appointments and transportation, processing laboratory and x-ray requests, and ensuring that all necessary reports are received in a timely manner. The Unit Clerk also manages the inventory of office supplies and is responsible for scanning appropriate documents upon patient discharge. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
