About the position

The Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant/Registrar position at Goshen Hospital is a vital role within the Birthplace department, focusing on providing essential secretarial, receptionist, and patient coordinating services. This part-time position requires the individual to work 48 hours per pay period, primarily during the day shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the unit, aligning with the mission, vision, and beliefs of Goshen Hospital. In this role, the individual will receive and communicate messages effectively, transcribe physician orders accurately, and enter patient data and charges into the order communication system. Completing necessary forms and maintaining an orderly environment are crucial responsibilities, as is coordinating room placements for patients both pre and post-operation based on their clinical designations. The position also involves direct interaction with patients, providing care as outlined in their care plans and as directed by registered nurses (RNs). The Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant will work under the direct supervision of an RN, utilizing independent judgment to prioritize their work and report observations and information to the appropriate personnel. This position is essential for ensuring that patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall quality of care provided at Goshen Hospital. Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial and receptionist services on the unit.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
  • CNA, CMA and/or a Nursing Fundamentals Course in an RN Program preferred.
  • Six months unit secretary and patient care experience preferred.
