About the position
The Unit Support Specialist in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) plays a crucial role in providing assistive care and clerical support under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). This position is essential for ensuring effective communication among patients, team members, and visitors, while also supporting the delivery of high-quality care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients with heart conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistive care to patients under the supervision of RNs and LPNs.
- Offer clerical support to the CVICU team.
- Facilitate communication between patients, team members, and visitors.
- Assist in monitoring and managing patient care activities.
- Support the professional and technical staff in daily operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of clerical experience required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- At least six months of patient care experience within the last two years, or enrolled in a medical-related college program with clinical rotation, or possess CNA, CMA, PCT, or EMT certification.
- Current BLS certification required.
