About the position

We are seeking a skilled Unix System Administrator with experience in semiconductor tools to join our team in Santa Clara, CA. This role is critical in designing, developing, modifying, managing, adapting, and implementing both short and long-term solutions to meet our information technology (IT) needs. The successful candidate will work with new and existing applications, systems architecture, and applications infrastructure for next-generation client tools. The position requires ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring and installing updates, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing monitoring and management of mission-critical services. The Unix System Administrator will take ownership of and independently manage a small to medium Linux environment. This includes analyzing functional requirements and recommending technical solutions to stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of IT services. In this position, you will be responsible for configuring, installing, and maintaining the client’s next-generation Unix-based tools. You will design, configure, install, and maintain CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, and SUSE servers and desktop computers. Additionally, you will develop and maintain scripts using Shell, Perl, and Python, and manage both physical and virtual servers. Your role will also involve troubleshooting issues, maintaining security compliance, and supporting operational issues through a ticket queue. Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and maintain Client's next-generation Unix-based tools.
  • Design, configure, install, and maintain CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, and SUSE servers and desktop computers.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Shell, Perl, and Python.
  • Install, configure, and manage PXE and diskless clients.
  • Install, configure, and maintain both physical and virtual servers.
  • Design, configure, install, and maintain all hardware, including clustered, standalone servers, blade servers, running VMware, and storage solutions including RAID and SAN technology.
  • Troubleshoot both basic and advanced issues.
  • Install and maintain patches as required to meet customer standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation in support of the architecture, environment, and SOPs.
  • Drive support level escalations.
  • Support and contribute to developing and maintaining an enterprise strategic plan to mitigate risks, address organizational deficiencies, and facilitate new requirements, technologies, and growth.
  • Maintain security compliance on all computers.
  • Perform proactive support functions and reporting to maintain the integrity of the enterprise equipment and infrastructure.
  • Work with ticket queue to support operational issues.
  • Participate in root-cause analyses as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, operations, and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience (5 - 7 Years).
  • 1-2 years of semiconductor tools IT infrastructure experience.
  • Enterprise Linux server management (CentOS, SUSE, Ubuntu, RedHat).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation - Bash, Perl, Python, etc.
  • Experience in clustering solutions.
  • Experience with physical and virtual server environments, such as x86 and VMware.
  • Experience with PXE and diskless clients.
  • Experience with storage solutions including RAID and SAN technology.
  • Networking protocols, including HTTPS, TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, SSH, SMTP.
  • Networking experience with Cisco or comparable devices, Enterprise Load Balancers, IPTABLES, Next Generation Enterprise Firewalls.
