About the position

National company is expanding and has immediate openings for a Unix System Administrator, located in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. We help companies connect, protect, analyze, and act on their data and applications wherever they live, from edge to cloud, so they can turn insights into outcomes at the speed required to thrive in today's complex world. As System Administrator, you will have the opportunity to be part of the team that brings High Performance Computing networking ASICs to the latest supercomputers. In this role, you will be responsible for software installation and updates, as well as monitoring system status to ensure maximum uptime across various development systems supporting validation of networking ASICs for the latest supercomputers. This is an immediate, full-time position that offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Debug and fix prototype and emulation system issues as they occur to maximize uptime.
  • Maintain daily updates of development software stack on systems.
  • Maintain and improve existing system status reporting infrastructure.
  • Help debug system issues to isolate root cause of failures.
  • Build compute node images with latest OS versions and software stack updates.
  • Help administer compute cluster for system validation team.
  • Collaborate and communicate with management and internal partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience as a system and/or network administrator.
  • Experience working with servers, networks, filesystems, and Linux-based operating systems.
  • Experience with compute clusters (e.g., LSF, Slurm) is desired.
  • Experience with ASIC emulation platforms (e.g., Palladium, Veloce, Zebu) is desired.
  • Scripting ability in Bash and Python is required.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an appetite for learning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ansible (3 years preferred).
  • Experience with Bash Scripting (3 years preferred).
  • Experience with Python Scripting (3 years preferred).
