About the position
The Tech Fundamentals program is a comprehensive and free training initiative designed to equip participants with essential skills in the technology sector. This program offers up to 20 weeks of instructor-led virtual training, providing a flexible learning environment that accommodates various schedules. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a paid internship or a project-based learning experience, allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills in real-world settings. The program also emphasizes the importance of earning industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+ and the Google IT Support Certificate, as well as an IT Generalist Apprenticeship credential. These certifications are crucial for enhancing employability and demonstrating proficiency in key IT areas. In addition to technical training, the Tech Fundamentals program provides exposure to leading technologies from major companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, and AWS. Participants will benefit from mentoring by senior-level IT professionals, who will guide them through the complexities of the tech industry and help them build valuable networks. Employment readiness workshops are also a key component of the program, equipping participants with the skills necessary to navigate the job market successfully. Furthermore, the program offers job placement assistance, connecting participants with a wide range of top employers looking for skilled candidates. Recognizing the diverse needs of its participants, the program also provides access to financial assistance and resources to help with housing, childcare, and other essential needs. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only gain technical skills but also receive the support necessary to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
Requirements
- Must be 18-26 years of age or over 21 if a military veteran or spouse
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- For military veterans or spouses: must be transitioning active-duty servicemember through the DoD SkillBridge program, honorably discharged, or a member of the Guard or Reserves
