About the position

The General Manager will lead a dynamic team in South San Francisco, focusing on fostering a high-performance work environment while overseeing day-to-day operations. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, and ensuring client satisfaction through strong relationship-building. The General Manager will also mentor department managers and drive performance improvements across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train and mentor department managers, providing regular coaching and support.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, including sales forecasts, in conjunction with corporate strategies.
  • Review and analyze Monthly Business Review (MBR) reports to drive performance across departments.
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day operations across departments, consistently reviewing processes and implementing improvements.
  • Oversee budget planning, monitor departmental expenses and set financial objectives.
  • Approve accounting data and performance reports to align with the company's financial goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors to enhance company image and ensure satisfaction.
  • Act as a hands-on team player, readily stepping in to support colleagues across all departments as needed.
  • Uphold and enforce ethical business practices and compliance with company policies.
  • Manage and oversee special projects as required to support company objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a management or senior leadership role, preferably in white-glove logistics, transportation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting and P&L management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Background in client-facing roles with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in supporting or leading sales initiatives and growth strategies.
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record in strategic planning and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
