About the position

As an Operations Manager in Asset Protection at Sam's Club, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our facilities while also driving operational excellence. This position requires a deep understanding of data and digital literacy, allowing you to leverage data analytics and visualization tools to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions. You will be responsible for improving the data-collection process and ensuring data quality, which is essential for making informed business decisions. Your role will also involve developing and implementing technology changes across multiple processes, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in asset protection operations. In addition to data management, you will need strong business acumen to develop business cases for projects that align with the overall business strategy. You will provide recommendations to stakeholders to solve complex business issues and translate business requirements into actionable projects. Your knowledge of environmental protection policies will be crucial as you support regulatory visits, prepare audit reports, and ensure compliance with environmental legislation. Operational excellence is a key focus of this role. You will explain the operational functions of your department, clarify the relevance of each department to the enterprise strategy, and identify primary operational functions. You will also be responsible for asset protection and security, conducting investigations into thefts and security breaches, and implementing access control procedures to prevent unauthorized access. Collaboration and communication are vital in this position. You will engage with team members and stakeholders, analyze their needs, and respond effectively to requests. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly and influence team members will be essential for driving results. You will also oversee employee health and safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA guidelines and developing emergency evacuation plans. As an Operations Manager, you will coordinate job-related activities, provide supervision and development opportunities for associates, and ensure compliance with company policies. You will focus on customer/member satisfaction, using data to adjust performance and exceed expectations. Your judgment will be critical in making informed decisions and managing execution and results effectively. You will also be responsible for planning and pursuing team-based improvements, promoting ideas that align with business needs, and managing ethics and compliance within your team. Adaptability and talent management will be key as you supervise associates, provide feedback, and support their development.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage data analytics to identify problems and determine root causes.
  • Improve data collection processes and ensure data quality.
  • Develop and implement technology changes across multiple processes.

  • Support regulatory visits and prepare audit reports for management review.
  • Conduct investigations into security breaches and thefts.
  • Implement access control procedures to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Conduct security audits and ensure compliance with Supply Chain standards.
  • Engage with team members and stakeholders to analyze needs and share information.
  • Evaluate facility environments against OSHA and industry-specific health and safety guidelines.
  • Design emergency evacuation plans and train evacuation leaders.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety Management, Environmental Science, or related field AND 1 year of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety within Supply Chain, Retail, Manufacturing, or Engineering; OR 3 years of experience in the same fields.
  • 2 years of experience in Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or Total Productive Maintenance.
