About the position

As an Application Engineer for the Automotive Aftermarket Division, you will have the opportunity to put your curiosity to good use and collaborate with some of the most innovative people in the world. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. You will support existing and new products and processes to our MSO (Multi Shop Organizations) including NPI (New Product Introduction), trainings, continuous improvement, and other application engineering activities. You will also support emerging automation and robotics for AAD, showcase 3M products and process solutions, and conduct hands-on product demonstrations for various groups. Collaboration with product development teams and providing practical solutions to customers will be key aspects of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Support of Existing and New Product and Process to our MSO (Multi Shop Organizations) - including NPI (New Product Introduction), trainings, continuous improvement, and other application engineering activities.
  • Supports emerging automation and robotics for AAD (Automotive Aftermarket Division)
  • Showcasing 3M products and process solutions and how they can increase profitability for body shop customers.
  • Hands-on product demonstrations for small and large groups (internal and external training)
  • Collaborating with product development teams, channel partners and business teams to provide practical solutions to our customers and be the voice of the customer in all situations.
  • Creating and implementing customer facing technical collateral and training content.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting with sales professionals & end-users involving existing products and new product introductions.
  • Testing & benchmarking the competitive landscape and bringing the voice of our customers to the lab and business.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree/Technical diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution or apprenticeship with technical qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience in a technically aligned, customer focused role in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Current, valid driver's license is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science, engineering, or business discipline from an accredited university
  • Five (5) years of experience in the collision repair industry
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office etc.)
  • Previous experience serving industrial markets such as collision repair, paint industry, manufacturing, OEM, or insurance industry.
  • Previous hardware / software experience with automotive calibration & diagnostic equipment
  • Previous experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training and/or technical sales
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
  • Ability to efficiently analyse, problem solve and implement solutions.
  • Possess strong & effective 'hands-on' demonstration techniques.
