About the position

The Utility Locate Technician position at ELM Utility Services involves working independently in the Everett, Washington area to locate and mark underground utilities, ensuring the safety and reliability of essential services such as gas, electric, and communications. Technicians will utilize state-of-the-art technology and company-provided equipment, including a vehicle, to perform their duties efficiently and effectively. This role is crucial for preventing excavation damage to vital utility facilities that serve the community.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently outdoors using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office.
  • Complete daily routes of locate requests for underground utilities.
  • Correctly and safely locate and mark underground utilities including electric and gas lines using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
  • Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork.
  • Receive daily route and locate requests via a handheld smartphone.
  • Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner as directed.
  • Work periodic overtime and participate in weekend on-call rotation as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in damage prevention or utility locating is preferred.
