About the position
The Utility Worker PT position at THF Park in Denison, TX, involves performing essential field work related to the maintenance of parks, recreational activities, and special events. This role is crucial for ensuring that the parks are well-maintained and safe for public use. The worker will assist field crews with various maintenance tasks, including landscaping, equipment repairs, and addressing safety issues within the park facilities. The position requires a hands-on approach to maintaining the aesthetic and functional aspects of the parks, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in proper working order. In this role, the Utility Worker will operate a variety of hand tools and equipment, such as weed eaters, mowers, and other machinery necessary for park maintenance. The worker is responsible for maintaining all tools, vehicles, and equipment in a clean and safe condition. Additionally, the worker will perform repairs on park amenities like picnic tables, fences, benches, trash cans, walkways, and playground equipment. Safety is a top priority, and the worker must adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety rules outlined in the employee handbook. The position also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills with staff, administration, and the public. The Utility Worker must be adaptable to changing priorities and able to manage time effectively to complete a high volume of work. This role may require working flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during adverse weather conditions or emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Assists field crews with maintenance and repairs of parks, including landscaping and equipment repairs.
- Operates hand tools, weed eaters, mowers, and other various equipment types used for division.
- Maintains all equipment, vehicles, tools, etc. in proper, safe, and clean working order.
- Maintains and repairs picnic tables, fences, benches, trash cans, walkways, playground equipment and other park items.
- Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have high school diploma.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier.
