About the position

We're the Devices & Services Design Group (DDG) at Amazon. Our organization drives design innovation for Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and more. Our team is responsible for designing innovative entertainment experiences for tens of millions of Fire TV customers. We are looking for a UX Designer to drive the vision, definition and design of Fire TV experiences across devices. You will invent and deliver throughout the strategy, design, and development lifecycle to build customer-focused solutions at scale. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. You must be able to lead projects forward in the face of ambiguity. From the beginning, you will play an integral role in defining problems, driving alignment around key customer experience outcomes, building workflows, building and testing low-fidelity prototypes, and designing delightful and highly-usable digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute throughout the entire process, from problem definition to delivery.
  • Use business requirements, user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases and high-level requirements that align to product strategy.
  • Work with senior designers and partners to identify key jobs to be done.
  • Work with senior designers and partners to develop conceptual models that work across a system of devices.
  • Design the UI architecture, interface and interaction flows for new Fire TV experiences.
  • Explore and communicate your ideas for new experiences using wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes.
  • Design highly usable digital experiences by rapidly prototyping, testing and iterating on designs with internal partners.
  • Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns.
  • Effectively work with design and project managers to plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for design.
  • Be a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiences.
  • Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers.
  • Elevate the culture of UX thinking and design excellence.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design.
  • Have an available online portfolio with examples of end-to-end journeys, IA mapping, and design systems thinking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with product managers and engineers to understand technical requirements and the ability to translate these into user experience requirements.
  • Experience working end-to-end with product and developer partners: defining problems and customer experience outcomes, building workflows and evaluating prototypes.
  • Familiarity with Material UI (React) component libraries and experience adding to, maintaining, managing and scaling design systems.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and experience iterating on your designs by gathering user/partner feedback.
  • Experience prototyping user journeys using Figma, ProtoPie or similar tools.
  • Systems design experience.
  • Strong presentation, storytelling and writing skills.
  • Experience presenting design work to user experience teams, product and engineering teams for review and feedback.
  • Working knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles and how design translates into code.

Benefits

  • Equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
  • Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
