About the position
The Van Driver position is a part-time role responsible for transporting students and clients to and from the Jenkins facility, as well as on various outings. The driver must ensure the safety and well-being of passengers while maintaining the vehicle in good working condition. This role requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. The position involves working Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, with a focus on providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Transport students to and from the Jenkins facility in the morning and afternoon.
- Transport students/clients on various outings outside normal work hours with advance notice.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections on the vehicle, including checking gas, brakes, wipers, oil, tires, and fluid levels.
- Maintain adequate gas levels, ensuring it never drops below ¼ tank when parked.
- Refuel the vehicle after the last delivery or before the first pick-up, ensuring no consumers are on board during refueling.
- Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and notify the coordinator of any seatbelt issues.
- Report maintenance needs such as oil changes and other vehicle malfunctions to the coordinator promptly.
- Maintain transportation records as required by Medicaid & DDS.
- Document and report any inappropriate behavior of consumers to the coordinator.
- Work harmoniously with other staff to maintain a positive work environment and serve as a role model for consumers.
- Report any physical illness, accidents, or health-related concerns to the supervisor or director.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Clean Driving Record.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Criminal Record Check required.
- Pre-employment drug testing required.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience providing services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
