About the position

The Van Driver position at Coarc involves transporting individuals with disabilities to and from day habilitation programs. This role is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient transportation while promoting a positive and cooperative environment. The driver will operate Coarc's vehicles, maintain safety protocols, and assist passengers as needed, contributing to the overall mission of supporting individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Coarc's transportation equipment is operated and maintained safely.
• Operate the vehicle in compliance with all DOT traffic regulations.
• Transport identified participants safely to and from agency programs.
• Complete safety protocols such as seat belting and tie downs for passengers.
• Maintain appropriate decorum on the run to ensure passenger safety.
• Report accidents, delays, incidents, and submit required documentation timely.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle as necessary.
• Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation for passenger comfort.
• Assist passengers with boarding or leaving the vehicle as necessary.
• Inspect and maintain equipment in safe working order at all times.
• Perform routine inspections prior to operation and at the end of each route.
• Maintain adequate fuel and fluids in the vehicle.
• Perform minor maintenance of equipment as directed.
• Be available to drive all Coarc routes as needed.
• Participate in required in-house and outside trainings.

Requirements

• Valid NYS driver's License
• Ability to be certified in all required trainings
• Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 lbs
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including bending, reaching, standing, walking, and smelling.
