About the position

The Variable Sales Manager is responsible for directing the sales activities of the dealership, ensuring that all sales operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves a combination of leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management. The Sales Manager will personally oversee or delegate tasks to subordinate supervisors, ensuring that the sales team is well-trained, motivated, and performing at their best. The position requires the establishment of annual and monthly objectives for unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profit, which are critical for the dealership's success. In this role, the Sales Manager will monitor salesperson productivity and performance, providing guidance and support where necessary. They will also be responsible for ordering and acquiring new and used vehicle inventory, as well as administering and monitoring factory-sponsored programs. The Sales Manager will play a key role in displaying, merchandising, and promoting both new and used vehicles to maximize sales opportunities. Additionally, the Sales Manager will analyze market trends and sales reports to determine customer needs and volume potential, developing targeted sales campaigns to meet the dealership's goals. This position serves as a liaison between the sales department and other departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organization. The Sales Manager will also be tasked with analyzing and controlling expenditures to align with budgetary requirements, maintaining a professional appearance, and attending managers' meetings as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the sales activities of the dealership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
