About the position

The Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery is seeking a Customer Service Specialist to provide advanced clerical and technical support for the Vermont Lottery. This role involves processing prize claims and payments, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. The position requires effective communication skills to explain lottery rules and handle challenging interactions with claimants and agents. The work is supervised by the VT Lottery Customer Service Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Process prize claims and payments for the Vermont Lottery.
  • Calculate and withhold applicable federal and state taxes on prize payments.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and agents.
  • Explain lottery rules, procedures, and statutes to customers.
  • Handle inquiries and resolve issues from irate claimants and agents.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of work experience involving customer service duties.
